CAIR ANNOUNCES NEWLY APPOINTED EXECUTIVE COUNCIL FOR 2024-2026

The Caribbean Association of Insurance Regulators (CAIR) is pleased to announce the newly appointed Executive Council for the 2024-2026 term, following the completion of nominations and election at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held on May 29, 2024, in Hamilton, Bermuda.

The Executive Council is comprised of the following:

President – Financial Services Commission (Jamaica)
Vice President – The Insurance Commission of The Bahamas
Treasurer – Grenada Authority for the Regulation of Financial Institutions (GARFIN)
Secretary – TCI Financial Services Commission
Immediate Past President – Cayman Islands Monetary Authority

Past President, Ms. Kara Ebanks of the Cayman Islands Authority, expressed her sincere gratitude to all members of the Association. “It has been an incredible journey, filled with collaboration, learning, and invaluable experiences as we worked together to advocate, promote, and enforce insurance regulation within the region.” Ms. Ebanks stated. “As we welcome the newly appointed Executive Council, I am confident that they will continue to uphold the Association’s mission of enhancing collaboration among insurance regulatory authorities, supporting members through capacity building, facilitating dialogue between regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders, and partnering with international regulatory authorities to harmonize financial services supervision.”

Ms. Ebanks further encouraged all members to extend their support and collaboration to the new leadership, emphasizing the importance of engagement in achieving high and consistent regulatory standards. “I look forward to the Association’s continued growth and success,” she concluded.

The newly elected Executive Council is committed to advancing the goals of CAIR and enhancing the regulatory environment for insurance in the Caribbean region. The Executive Council looks forward to continued collaboration with members and stakeholders to strengthen the insurance industry through effective regulation.
