IFRS 17 COMMITTEE

At CAIR’s Annual General Meeting held in Guyana June 2019, members agreed to sanction an IFRS 17 Implementation Committee in order to foster collaboration among regional authorities; to ensure that the industry, and supervisory authorities are adequately prepared to transition to the complex IFRS 17 standard, which is expected to come in to effect on 1st of January 2023.  Analytics, Ltd. has been engaged to provide the capacity building training for CAIR membership. The IFRS 17 Implementation Working Committee is chaired by Antigua and Barbuda with 20 participating members.

SYSTEMICALLY IMPORTANT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS (SIFIS)

On June 18, 2020, at CAIR’s virtually held AGM a technical working group was formed to develop a framework to identify and monitor systemically important financial institutions in the region. The Technical Working Committee consists of the following member jurisdictions:

• St. Vincent & The Grenadines
• Belize
• Barbados
