Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding

Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding

The CAIR Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMOU) is a framework established to facilitate the exchange of information among members of CAIR and to indorse the need for mutual co-operation among members to carry out their regulatory and supervisory functions under the relevant laws, regulations and rules in their respective jurisdictions.

The MMOU further promotes the integrity, efficiency, and financial soundness of regulated insurance entities by improving effective regulation and enhancing the supervision of cross-border transactions ultimately for protection of policyholder’s interest.

To date, 15 CAIR members have entered into the multilateral agreement, and discussions remain ongoing with other members regarding their legislative adjustments.
